After more than two years of construction, the 144 Avenue N.W. Improvements are nearing completion, and the road will be open to traffic by the end of September 2024.
To thank residents for their patience during construction, we’d like to invite community members to attend our opening event on September 27 at 11 a.m. at the intersection of 144 Avenue N.W. and Symons Valley Road.
After a few words from leaders and partners, residents are invited to enjoy complimentary food trucks, family-friendly activities, and a live DJ. You could also be one of the very first Calgarians to walk or wheel across the new bridge and road!

The City of Calgary is undertaking significant roadway improvements in the 144 Avenue N.W. area. Construction began in spring 2022 for an extension of 144 Avenue N.W. from 24 Street N.W. (Panorama Road), through Symons Valley Road to Sage Hill Drive N.W.
The project includes:
- 1.2km of new arterial roadway;
- a bridge crossing over West Nose Creek;
- an expansion to the multi-use pathway system further linking to the 5A cycle network; and
- improvements to the transportation network and connectivity in the area for all modes of travel
