As Calgary continues to grow, we see growth in the number of bins and collection routes required to serve new communities. With that, The City is adjusting waste collection routes to ensure efficient and reliable service. Starting the week of April 22, 2025, updated collection schedules will take effect, impacting many households. As part of these route changes, weekly green cart collection will also resume city-wide.
“We’re asking residents to check their schedule online, to see if their collection day or week is changing, and to find out when their weekly green cart service resumes,” says Natalia Gonzalez, Waste Diversion Specialist in Waste & Recycling Services. “For example, a collection day may move from Wednesday to Thursday or may shift to the opposite week. To avoid missed pickups, we encourage Calgarians to visit calgary.ca/cartschedule and sign up for reminders.”
Green Cart reminder: weekly collection resumes
With warmer weather and an increase in yard waste, weekly green cart collection will return city-wide as part of the updated schedule. Residents are reminded to:
· Fill your green cart first before using paper yard waste bags. Roll tops closed.
· Place extra bags at least two feet (0.5 metres) to the side of your green cart.
· Ensure bags are light enough to lift with one hand.
