The Board of Trustees of the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) has set Friday, January 31, 2025 as the date of a by-election to fill two vacant trustee seats. With each trustee representing two City wards, the vacant seats are in Wards 4 and 7, and Wards 11 and 12.

Candidate nominations are now open and will close at noon on Friday, January 3, 2025. Canadian citizens who are 18 years of age or older as of January 31, 2025 and who live within the jurisdiction of the CCSD, who declare they are the same faith as the CCSD, and who are not prohibited from being nominated by law may become a candidate. Eligible voters in the by-election include residents in one of Wards 4 and 7, or 11 and 12, who are Canadian citizens aged 18 or older as of January 31, 2025 and who declare they are the same faith as the CCSD. The list of candidates and information on voting opportunities, including when and where to vote, and identification requirements will be shared early in the new year.

The by-election is required by the Education Act as the second vacancy arose more than one year before the Monday, October 20, 2025 General Election.
