Construction Updates on the Green Line North – BRT!

  • Beddington Blvd: Station piles have been poured and the electrical feeds for the shelters have been installed. The contractor is now preparing the station areas to pour new concrete for the station platforms. Once this has been completed, they will move on to the shelter construction in late-July.
  • 78 Ave N: New traffic signals have been installed, along with the new north-bound bus layby. The contractor has removed the existing shelters and demolished the platforms and have begun piling for the south-bound station. Once the south-bound station piles have been completed piling for the north-bound station will begin.
  • 64 Ave N: New traffic signal installations have been completed; piles have been installed in both station directions. The contractor has completed concrete removals to prepare for new curb and gutter and station platform construction. This will be followed by new shelter construction in late July.
  • 56 Ave N: New signals installations have begun, with a targeted completion in mid-July. Curb and sidewalk removals are expected to start July 8, beginning with temporary pedestrian detours put into place followed by existing station removals.
  • 40 Ave N: New signal installations are complete. Deep utility work is nearly complete; with new curb, gutter and sidewalk construction ongoing north-bound. Further curb and gutter removals on the west (south-bound) side of Centre ST are planned for the bulk of July, with piles and platform work anticipated to begin in late July.
  • 28 Ave N: Work is scheduled to begin at this location mid-July beginning with temporary bus stop installations and curb and gutter removals.
  • Country Hills Blvd: Work is anticipated to begin on new Signals construction July 8. This will be followed by curb and gutter removals and new curb and gutter installations in the median south of Country Hills Blvd.
  • 96 Ave N: New signals installations are targeted to begin here after they are completed at Country Hills Blvd. Curb and gutter removals and installations targeted to begin in late-August or early September.

Sean Chu arrived in Calgary from Taiwan in 1985 speaking not a word of English, and within 7 years he was a sworn officer with the Calgary Police Service. From that point on Sean worked with the Calgary Police Service as on Officer for 21 years in a number of roles until 2013.
