The intersection of Country Hills Boulevard NW and Shaganappi Trail NW will be widened.

This is good news for commuters, not only will it reduce traffic congestion, but this intersection had over 147 collisions from 2013 to 2018. Many of them being rear end collisions in the northbound and southbound directions.

Some of the benefits of making these much needed changes include over 200,000 passenger hours of delay reduced annually, which represent a 30% overall delay reduction in the morning and evening peak periods. The changes are expected to reduce collision by approximately 25%due to reduced congestion and fewer vehicles stopping. Furthermore, it allows more efficient and flexible signal timing operation in all directions.

Lane closures are anticipated to begin May 9th for surveying work with construction starting the week of May 13th. The changes will take about 6 weeks to do, so please be patient and slow down.

Thank you to Calgary Roads Department for making these changes to this important intersection. It will make daily commutes easier and safer. #ward2 #ward3 #ward4 #yyc #yyccc
