I have heard from many residents about your concerns along the NW LRT route, and the issues regarding what the City can do to improve your safety when you travel to home and work, and for the many students who take the LRT to the U of C.

The City is continuously looking for ways to promote a safer and more accessible public transit system. I have been working with Calgary Police Service (CPS) – District 7, and the City of Calgary Transit Peace officers on a project to make our NW LRT line safer.

During the months of July and August there will be a focus on the northwest leg of the LRT Red Line. Uniformed members from CPS and Transit will conducting roving patrols between LRT stations of Brentwood, Dalhousie, Crowfoot, and Tuscany. With an increased presence of these officers, it is hoped that poor behavior on the LRT will be reduced. There has been similar project to this, that have been successful. This initiative was also running during Stampede.

If you see anything along the LRT line, please tell one of the officers, call 311, if a non-emergency 403-266-1234 for the Calgary Police Service. Thank you to all the officers for stepping up to make our commutes safer.
