My response to the Drop In Centre Building Permit for the Quality Inn on McKnight Blvd and Edmonton Trail. As an honorary board member of the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), and a council appointed Board Member of the Calgary Housing Company (CHC), I believe in, and support the 10 year Plan to End Homelessness. As such, I look forward to seeing whether this new program is deemed to be in alignment with Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.
There is no denying the need for affordable housing in this city. However, before I support any Ward 4 housing program, I want to ensure that the program is truly meeting the long term needs of the prospective residents and has community support. I currently support other housing initiatives within the ward and would do so once again if this project gains community and social agency support. I remain committed to working with all stakeholders, including the Drop In Centre, the Province and community stakeholders, to find affordable housing solutions in alignment with the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.
