Several amenities at Southland and Village Square Leisure Centres will be closed as they undergo annual preventative maintenance and cleaning, beginning Sept. 5, 2023. Schedules for fall programs, classes and swimming lessons have been adjusted to accommodate the closures and can be found at calgary.ca/register.
The amenity reopening dates are as follows:
Southland Leisure Centre:
• The fitness studio, multipurpose rooms, weight room and gymnasium reopen Sept. 11, 2023.
• The pool is expected to reopen on Oct. 2, 2023.
Village Square Leisure Centre:• The multipurpose rooms, weight room and gymnasium reopen Sept. 11, 2023.
• The fitness studio reopens Sept. 18, 2023.
• The pool will undergo additional preventative ceiling repairs, similar to what was conducted at
Southland Leisure Centre this spring, and is expected to reopen in early November. The Leisure Centres will remain open to Calgarians while specific amenities are closed and building tenants (i.e., Alberta Health Services, Calgary Public Library, etc.) will be open regular hours. Fall service adjustments based on historical customer demand during the fall months, adjustments to the hours of operation at several
City-operated recreation facilities will begin Sept. 5, 2023. Please see Attachment 1 – Fall 2023 Leisure, Aquatic, Fitness and Recreation Centre hours of operation for more information. Following planned annual preventative maintenance and cleaning closures, Southland and Village Square Leisure Centres will continue to offer public swimming seven days per week, an increase of three days per week compared to the spring. Shouldice Aquatic Centre will reopen at four days per week, Tuesday to Friday.
