Following a competitive RFP process, the Green Line Board has selected Calgary-based Graham Construction to construct the 78 Avenue S.E. Grade Separation and Ogden Pedestrian Tunnel Project (“78th Avenue Project”).

Before building the Ogden LRT station and tracks, the 78th Avenue Project will complete vehicle and pedestrian tunnels under the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railway corridor to enhance mobility and pedestrian safety and clear the way for future construction of the Ogden station and LRT track.

With approximately 26 trains per day operating on CPKC’s main line, this complex enabling works project will reduce project and schedule risk as Green Line prepares for main LRT construction.

Once the tunnel at 78 Avenue S.E. is complete and open to traffic, the vehicle crossing at 69 Avenue S.E., east of Ogden Road, will be permanently closed. The 78 Avenue Project is a significant enabling works project and demonstrates how the Green Line LRT Project continues to generate opportunities for local contractors, trades and suppliers while delivering economic stimulus for Calgary.

With construction beginning shortly and extending through to summer 2025, Green Line will work closely with the Ogden community to mitigate impacts, as best as possible. Public information sessions begin on June 13, 2023, with details available at: 78 Avenue Project | Green Line LRT (calgary.ca).
