As spring is upon us and the last remaining ice on Calgary’s roadways has melted away, The City of Calgary is announcing the start of our annual Spring Clean-up program.

Residential neighbourhoods will begin to see street sweeping signs in their communities later this weekend as the program prepares for a Monday April 18 start. The sweeping schedule will be from 8AM – 4PM.

Residential street sweeping is an important annual program that removes debris that has accumulated on the road during the winter months. This debris is removed by street sweepers, which make multiple passes, to prevent the material from entering our stormwater system and increases safety for Calgarians. The Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) will be supporting Roads during Spring Cleanup. This means that they will be using their cameras and will enforce the ban. This means tickets in your mailbox.

Given the city has 16,000Km of roads that need to be cleaned, the cleaning crews will not return to clean gravel in front of your house.

Cleaning will continue till the end of June.
