Dear residents living in and around John Laurie Boulevard, I am aware of the opposition from residents and community associations regarding the upcoming light install at Charleswood Dr. I’ve heard you loud and clear and I am against the solution put forth by the city to install these lights and I have advocated our opposition on residents’ behalf. Even though I’ve not heard a single support on these traffic lights so far, I do understand The City’s position that we are obligated to make our streets safer when we are aware there are safety issues.

Safety is a top priority and after the Transportation Department conducted a safety review, the collision statistics are higher compared to other high traffic roads within Calgary city limits. The decision to act was from the Transportation Department due to the overwhelming safety issues.

The Transportation Department are holding two separate info sessions regarding the light installation changes on the 22nd and 23rd of August and I will be in attendance, along with my staff, on both days. Please refer to my website at SeanChu.ca or my Facebook page for full details on when and where the info sessions are being held.
