“Good Afternoon Councillor Mian and Ward 3 Office / Councillor Chu and Ward 4 Office / Councillor Dhaliwal and Ward 5 Office / Councillor Chabot and Ward 10 Office,

Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) has begun improvements on Deerfoot Trail.

The first improvement area they are proceeding with is at 64 Avenue N.E. Enabling work has begun and construction signage has been placed onsite indicating a construction zone. Work in this area will include:

  • Improvements to the north to west and north to east 64th Avenue ramps.
  • An extension of the northbound auxiliary lane connecting the on-ramp at McKnight Blvd with the off-ramps at 64th Avenue.

Similar to any major construction project, impacts are expected to be noticeable. These are likely to include traffic delays, speed reductions, travel pattern changes, dust, noise, changes to community and business access and temporary closures. ATEC has not disclosed the details of the construction plan to date; however, they have committed to sharing more details as soon as they are able to.

The Deerfoot Trail Improvements Project will include several improvement areas along the corridor. Other improvement areas are currently under design and progressing through procurement by ATEC. The exact scope of work and timing has yet to be made fully available to The City.”
